Joe Higham’s ‘Al Orkesta’ evolved from his interest in various folk forms found in English, Arabic, Turkish and Jewish music and is also influenced by the many prog-rock-oriented groups from the 70s. Joe Higham strives to retain and present core ingredients from the original source music – rhythm, melody, tempo, mood and ambience to produce a series of ‘off centre’ musically interesting pieces that provide creative space for the soloists.
