Gaëtan Casteels Ozaín Quartet is saxophonist Bruno Grollet, trombonist Nathan Surquin, drummer Pierre Hurty and Gaëtan Casteels on bass and compositions. Ozaín quartet is an opportunity for the four musicians to express themselves equally: as a soloist or in joyful collective impovisions. The melodies always lead, in powerful unisons or sophisticated counterpoints. Bass, trombone and sax start a conversation and make you forget the absence of harmonic instrument. Ozaín Quartet is a pretext to play around the compositions of the leading bassist, mixing his different influences: modern-jazz of course but also tango, Indian scales, African rhythms … Even a nod to baroque music! Ozaín Quartet is the permission to override certain rules if the music asks for it, if it feels good.
